The SBI presents itself at the 2nd digitalisation congress for Mecklenburg Vorpommern

On Friday, the 4th of June, it was AI day at the NØRD congress, the congress for digitalisation in Mecklenburg Vorpommern, organized by the federal ministry for energy, infrastructure and digitalisation. In 4 different sessions, researchers and experts from companies utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) discussed about the applications, challenges and risks of AI in various settings.

The SBI took part in the "AI in Biology and Medicine" session, together with Dr. Anne Gutschmidt from the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in MV, who hosted this session, Prof. Dr. Carsten Ullrich from Centogene, Dr. Stefan Leye from Limbus MEdical technologies and Prof. Dr. Dagmar Waltemath from the Institute for Community Medicine in Greifswald, who is also a former SBI member.

Our PhD student Maximilian Hillemanns presented a video describing the SBI's endeavours regarding Machine Learning, including the handling of unbalanced data sets and the segmentation of lung nodes from CT images. Afterwards, Maximilian took part in an engaged and interesting discussion.
